For whom?

Smart Color Chart has designed stencils for research and experimentation, to help find color mixes using small amounts of paint. It converts abstract percentages into clear and practical proportions, much more in line with the reality of painting practice.

Once you have found your colors, save them with a brushstroke in your color chart.  This way, you can create a register with physical color samples and build a color chart or personalized swatch book that you can reproduce accurately, reliably, and without limitation.  Mixing percentages (e.g. 50% : 30% : 20%) are difficult to translate into actual practice when mixing paint on a palette. The Smart Color Chart stencil removes the abstraction of percentages by converting them into ratios such as 5:3:2, which are far more intuitive and directly applicable in practice.

These tools (stencils) can be used with oil paint, acrylic, water-mixable oil paint, gouache, and watercolor.

It goes without saying that not all artists will need these tools especially those who paint intuitively and place the creative process at the heart of their work, as well as those who work wet-on-wet.  Nevertheless, when it comes to creating a specific color, this stencil allows them with a minimal amount of paint to identify the hue they are looking for and precisely define the proportions.

With this surprisingly simple and effective mixing tool, we speak directly to the broad audience of painters and hobbyists who truly benefit from it, those who value precision, repeatability and efficient use of materials.

Thanks to this stencil, mixing colours becomes a controllable and reproducible technique, without ever limiting your creativity. It's for anyone who wants to work in a methodical way, from students to professional experts.
